Project Description

October 2012 – April 2013. Africa Soil Information Service (AfSIS)/International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), Nairobi Regional Office. Design, development and implementation of a web-based database system developed on Open Source platforms using pHp, AJAX and MySQL. The objective of the database is to allow analyses and synthesis of results from diagnostic trials across sites; that will increase data density over time allowing for improving reliability of assessments and inferences in Africa. The database is part of a continent-wide project for developing digital soil maps for sub-Saharan Africa using new types of soil analysis and statistical methods, and conducting agronomic field trials in selected sentinel sites.
